Course Description

Preparation of Vessel for RightShip Inspection (RISQ) - A 2 Day Course

RightShip conducts inspections to evaluate a ship’s condition, quality and the effectiveness of Safety Management System (SMS) implementation, adoption of industry recommendations and best practices, and the health and well-being of seafarers onboard.  

RightShip’s Inspection Ship Questionnaire (RISQ) 
The RightShip Inspection Ship Questionnaire (RISQ), is designed to strengthen the consistency and quality of inspections and includes verification of Safety Management System (SMS) effectiveness, ship condition, crew familiarity with the SMS, industry recommendations and best practices. 
For inspection purposes, the vessels covered in RightShip’s inspections are now grouped into four categories:  
•  Bulk carriers that are carrying sold bulk cargoes other than grain  
•  Bulk carrier that are carrying grain cargoes  
•  General cargo ships that are carrying general and/or container cargoes  
•  Container ships that are carrying container cargoes  
At the end of the inspection RightShip will provide a Safety Score which benchmarks a vessel against others of its type and see where each vessel is placed in its peer group and its impact on one’s risk profile.

Other Training Courses as required under RightShip RISQ :
•  Bulk Carrier Safety Inspection and Maintenance Course - 5 days
•  Hatch Cover Operation and Maintenance - 1 day
•  Cargo Securing Operations  - 1 day
•  Carriage & care of dangerous and hazardous substances
   in Bulk (including MHB)  - 1 day
• Ship Handling training including Large Vessel Ship Handling (LVSH) as per     
   STCW Section B -V/a (Large Vessels over 100,000 dwt) and Port Hedland entry  
   and exit manoeuvres - 2 days
•  Value added training for on board engineers :
-      Engine Operation and maintenance – OEM training for MAN ME,
        Wartsila RT-Flex, WinGD DF engines - 5 days each
-      Hydraulics – Basic and Advanced course - 5 days
-      Marine Electrical – Basic and Advanced - 5 +5 days
-      Electronics and PLCs - 5 days
-      Instrumentation and Control systems  - 5 days
•  Safety Officer (including RA) course
-      Occupational and Behaviour Based safety - 2 days
-      Risk assessment - 1 day
-      Shipboard safety officer - 1 day
-      Accident Investigation - 2 days

Course Objectives
To provide guidance to the ship’s officers and vessel managers to prepare the vessel for a RightShip RISQ inspection. Guidance is provided for each question, and how the vessel must ready the vessel for the same and answers to the questions would be asked by the inspector.
