Course Description

The Maritime Labour Convention adopted by International Labour Organization on 23rd Feb 2006, will come into force on 20 August 2013. The convention includes 68 maritime labour instruments that ILO has introduced since 1920, many of which are not addressed by the present Flag Administration and shipping company management systems.
All ships coming within the scope of the Convention and being above 500 tons in international voyage must have a Maritime Labour Certificate and Document of Maritime Labour Compliance issued by the Flag State.

Personnel involved in verification of shipboard compliance will have to obtain a clear understanding of the regulations and codes within the MLC 2006.
